Times sure flies when you are doing what you love! It’s been a while since I have blogged so here goes–my thoughts on our summer program. As some of you know I am a parent as well as director and head teacher of our little school. I have the unique opportunity to see things both through the eyes of an educator and as a parent. That being said, I have mixed feelings about a summer program that takes children out of their centers and on weekly trips out into the community. Don’t get me wrong, I take my children lots of places, and as a parent it seems like my kids are always on the go, running from activity to activity during the week and then running with me on the weekends. I feel like they do enough and staying in one place during the school day just makes more sense. Here at the preschool, we bring the fun to the children in a safe, structured environment without the hustle and bustle of daily life. We try to stick to our yearly routine by planning fun, but more relaxed weekly themes, that involve reading and crafts. We feel it’s important to review letters, numbers, colors, and shapes. We have sprinkler days, icecream days, cooking days, librarian visitations and visits from Angel our therapy dog, and we enjoy lots of outdoor playtime. As a parent, I feel better knowing my own children are safe when they are in the center daily. The structure and routine we provide gives our children a break from the daily hustle and bustle and just let’s kids be kids! I hope you all join us for a great summer program!!
Around The Schoolyard
With a new year comes many things to look forward to, and this year is no different. In 2015, we hope to grow the school, to twice its current capacity by offering childcare for children in the Pitman school preschool disabled program. They will bus here and it seems to be an easy transition for the students we already have. We also plan to continue to offer families flexible scheduling that meets their needs and work schedules. Not everyone works Monday through Friday 9-5, and we want to be the school, that accommodates those children. We will continue to offer daily & hourly drop in sessions for snow days, vacation days and even doctors appointments. Please know that we understand and are you for each and every child and their familes. We “get it”, we are moms ourselves and deal with our own crazy schedules daily, preschool should be difficult, and that’s where we come in. Just give us a call and we would be happy to discuss rates, schedules, curriculum and options. Or better yet, schedule a tour and come see for yourself, what a great little school we are!
As a mom of three children myself, I know what the end of summer means….back to school time for the “littles”. I always find it bittersweet because in my heart, I know it’s time for them to get back to learning, the structure, the routine and their friends. But that means that they will be away from me for the next 180 days. I find comfort in the fact that I know their teachers and that they will be well cared for while they are away from me. For parents either going back to work from a summer off, those coming off maternity leave or those who are looking to put their child in preschool for the first time, we know this can be a difficult time for you as well. Our goal here at Abc Express Preschool is to make your child feel, at home away from home, while having fun and making new friends. We provide a safe, caring environment so that you can feel confident leaving your child in our capable hands. We offer full and part time classes for children ages 2 1/2 to 6 to accommodate all your childcare needs. Please contact us today for a tour.
What a fantastic year it has been, packed with so many exciting changes. It has been a wonderful experience to see the preschool change and grow so that we could make it our own. From painting the walls, to resurfacing the play ground, to designing our two new signs, it has all be wonderful. The staff and parents have been very supportive and patient with us every step of the way and for that we are forever grateful! And the children, well they just make us smile every day! So for those of you moving on, good luck, we will miss you, but please sure to stop by and visit often, because you are forever in our hearts. For those of you staying with us, just know that we are looking forward to an even better year ahead. Your teachers have planned an exctiting summer program, jam packed, full of fun and have also been busy working on improving the curriculum for the fall. Exciting things are in store for everyone, and we couldn’t be happier!!
We now have a blog and I will be able to ramble on as I like, about anything and everything on a daily basis! Sorry, for those of you that know me, yes, i do love to hear myself talk!!!
